Hotels: South Padre Island Texas Hotels And Motels

post time 23. June 2008 member admin

South Padre Island in Texas is the home of spring break. For years, college-age students have descended on this tiny coastal town every spring to drink too much beer, party too late into the night and to generally have a good time. Residents dont seem to mind, and the South Padre Island hotels and motels certainly do reap the benefits for the trouble.

If you live in Texas, then many feel that you havent really become an adult until you have spent a week on Padre Island. My first foray into adulthood was with some long-time friends of mine who decided to drive to South Padre for the weekend. I agreed to go with them, never mind that it was a 16-hour drive. South Padre Island is about living in the moment.

What to Know about South Padre Island Hotels
While it is a good idea to reserve a hotel room before visiting Padre Island, if you end up there unexpectedly you can probably find somewhere to stay relatively cheaply. On those busiest spring break weekends, you might end up sharing a room with some newfound friends, but thay may be considered part of the experience. Hotels and motels are lined along the beach, one after the other, and all the popular chains are represented.

During off-season, South Padre Island can be a paradise. I visited there once during December and had the beach to myself. While kids love Padre for the party reputation it represents, adult can also enjoy it for the peaceful solitude it also allows after the revelers are gone.

Hotels: Arlington Texas Hotels And Motels

post time 22. June 2008 member admin

For those of you who have not traveled to Arlington, Texas, it might be a good choice for your next vacation. Arlington is right in between both Dallas and Fort Worth, so you wont lack for things to do while visiting. The Arlington hotels and motels are also everywhere on Interstate 30 or tucked inside the smaller neighborhood areas.

Many people have only heard of Arlington because of the Texas Rangers baseball team. The Rangers have a beautiful new stadium, designed to look like it was built in the early part of the 20th century when America really was baseball, hot dogs, apple pie and Chevrolet. President Bush was also an owner of the hometown team at one time.

The Best Place to Find Arlington Hotels and Motels
The city also has an abundance of amusement parks, the most notable ones being Six Flags over Texas and Wet n Wild. People come from miles around to visit these two parks. Hotels and motels are found on every street corner near these two attractions.

When visiting Arlington, do take the time to drive into Fort Worth for the day. The stockyards feature a daily longhorn cattle drive down the middle of town and old bars are on every corner for those in a festive mood. Instead, you might choose to visit the more sophisticated neighbor, Dallas, only about 20 minutes from Arlington and offering all the allure and sparkle that the city is so well-known for around the world.

Hotels: Corpus Christi Texas Hotels And Motels

post time 21. June 2008 member admin

Corpus Christi is a Texas coastal town that welcomes visitors in the winter and the summer. Like other coastal towns in Texas, Corpus Christi has had a fair share of hurricanes, however, the town has always bounced back admirably. Currently, most visitors know the area as a naval air training base, but there is also a strong petroleum industry.

Corpus Christi is where the Mexican singer Selena was shot and killed in 1995. Since that time, the city has kept her memory alive by naming an auditorium after her called the Selena Auditorium at the Bayfront Convention Center. There is also a museum dedicated to the singer with many of her belongings on display.

What Else Is There to Do in Corpus Christi?
There are hotels and motels in Corpus Christi, but most of the people who visit this town are interested in fishing or some other form of water sport. However, these activities are usually done at Padre Island, which is right across the channel. There is an art museum in Corpus Christi with an interesting collection from Philip Johnson.

Other places to visit are the Texas State Aquarium and the Corpus Christi Museum of Science and History. Since Corpus Christi is on the water, the Science and History museum also takes the time to explore shipwrecks. Speaking of ships, the USS Lexington, a World War II aircraft carrier, can be seen here, as well as the Columbus Fleet. The Columbus Fleet is a life-sized exhibit featuring the Santa Maria and the Pinta.

Hotels: Galveston Texas Hotels And Motels

post time 20. June 2008 member admin

Galveston, Texas is not too far from Houston and locals spend time there on the weekends just to get out of the city. However, there are many tourists who also enjoy traveling to Galveston for holidays from around the country. At one time, Galveston was known as a dirty beach, but cleanup has been successful and the area is making a comeback.

Galveston has also been through quite a few hurricanes during the past 100 years. In fact, one hurricane in the early part of the 1900s devastated the area and killed hundreds of residents. One of the problems is the fact that Galveston is an island, so residents who decide to stay for an approaching hurricane cant leave once it hits.

Galveston Hotels and Motels Are Built to Last
Many of the hotels in Galveston were built right on the ocean, but a few have stood the test of time and a centurys worth of inclement weather. Galveston also has a wonderful area to buy fresh seafood brought in daily by the local fishermen. Since Galveston is located on the Gulf of Mexico, the shrimp and fish are plentiful and seafood restaurants are everywhere on the island.

Many people enjoy their entire holiday relaxing in Galveston, Texas. Often, visitors just want to take a break from life and spend their time on the beach or in the water. Galveston really does delight tourists yearly as the summer season brings warm weather and hot sand just waiting to be discovered.

Hotels: College Station Texas Hotels And Motels

post time 19. June 2008 member admin

If you have ever heard an Aggie joke then you should know where it originated from: College State, Texas. A & M University is one of the well-respected universities in the area, but the Aggies do take a beating from rival teams and Texans who just like to make them the brunt of a good joke. Never mind, Aggie fans come for miles around every week to watch the football games, and alumni never give up their school spirit.

College Station has a fair share of hotels and motels, but be sure and book a room early during football season. There is also much to see and do in the area since Brenham, Texas is nearby and Houston is only a short drive as well. This entire part of Texas is steeped in agriculture so you will also get a good chance to see cows, pigs and horses.

College Station Caters to All Crowds
College Station hotels cater to all crowds from the weekend traveler to the vacationer just spending a week or two there. Another special attraction in College Station is the George Bush Library. The library is a special place to visit and the former president and his wife, Barbara, also keep an apartment there.

This presidents library was the first I had visited of its kind and it left me with an impression I wont forget. Inside the front doors is a memorial to the September 11 victims, but further into the exhibit there is also a huge piece of the Berlin Wall. Experiencing the library brought back memories of what I was doing during those landmark times when President Bush was in office.
